Make your outdoor space glow, not glare.

SkyBait reimagines the traditional bug zapper, turning it into a beautiful, functional lantern that complements any outdoor décor. Winston Alford-Hamburg designed SkyBait to solve the key problems of existing bug zappers, which often disrupt the ambiance of peaceful summer evenings with harsh, fluorescent light and unsightly insect remains. Traditional bug zappers disrupt more than just insects—they disrupt your entire outdoor experience.

Existing bug zappers disrupt more than just insects.

Most bug zappers are effective but come with significant drawbacks. The harsh fluorescent light they emit can be a glaring distraction, ruining the atmosphere of your outdoor setting. Their design often leaves insect remains in full view, creating an eyesore, and the bulky, cage-like structure feels out of place in stylish, thoughtfully designed spaces.

Bait from above for better results.

To address these issues, Winston approached the problem from the insect’s perspective. Mosquitos most often search for food from above, so SkyBait shines its light upward rather than horizontally. This vertical baiting system attracts insects more naturally, guiding them toward the zapper without disturbing people in the surrounding area. The double aluminum walls direct the light where it’s most effective, drawing insects from higher elevations while keeping the glow shielded from human eyes.
