Chelsea
Currently Under Construction
Indian craftsmanship meets Manhattan living.
Winston Alford-Hamburg led the renovation of an executive’s Chelsea apartment, currently under construction, crafting a personalized space that reflects the client's deep ties to the fashion world and pride in their Indian heritage. The client, a leader in the fashion industry with connections to Dior and a passion for Indian embroidery, sought a home that embodies both luxury and cultural significance. Winston delivered a sophisticated design that honors this unique blend of influences, all while navigating the co-op board's rigorous design review process.
Custom furniture, infused with cultural and artistic influence.
At the heart of this design is a CNC-milled Dibond dining table featuring a custom-printed graphic, a seamless blend of advanced fabrication techniques and bespoke artistry. The custom millwork, including built-in bookcases and a bed, was crafted by celebrated queer artist Nicolo Gentile, further enriching the space with unique, artisanal craftsmanship. Each element was tailored to reflect the client's deep appreciation for quality, tradition, and modern artistry.
Fashion meets architecture.
Winston collaborated with Les Editions de Tapis and textile designer Thomas Coccimiglio, formerly of Isabel Marant, to create a custom rug that harmonizes the interior's aesthetic. This piece, along with other tailored finishes, brings together bold, fashion-forward elements with the timeless artistry of Indian design, reflecting the client’s strong roots in both worlds.
Rooted in craftsmanship.
An iconic neighborhood.
With a project located in the iconic neighborhood of Chelsea, Winston expertly navigated the apartment's co-op board approval process. His attention to detail ensured that every aspect of the design, from custom millwork to furniture placement, met the stringent requirements, allowing for a smooth and efficient renovation.
